The NDMA has directed the NHA, FWO and other agencies to remain alert from May 3 to 6 in case of heavy rains in the next few days. According to details, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has directed the concerned agencies and departments to remain alert in view of the possibility of storms, strong winds and thunderstorms in the central and upper parts of the country during the next three days.

According to the advisory issued on Saturday, the Meteorological Department has forecast rains with winds, strong winds and thunderstorms in the central and upper parts of the country from Sunday to Wednesday. The NDMA has urged all concerned agencies to be ready to avoid loss of life and property in any emergency situation in view of the weather conditions.

According to details, after continuous lockdown due to Corona, the farmers around the city have started harvesting their ready-made crop after the government got permission to open the agricultural sector in view of harvesting ready-made wheat crop. In this regard, the farmers make every effort to harvest their crop as soon as possible and prepare for the next crop after the sale. It may be recalled that unseasonal rains have affected the wheat crop this year as well as last year.

On the other hand, in order to meet the target set by the government this year, where the food department is active, the government has also increased the subsidized price of wheat this year. At the moment, the farmer is busy harvesting wheat as well as thinking about the next crop. Farmers say the government should reduce fertilizer and diesel prices.

While farmers are happy to reap the rewards of their hard work, they are also seeking government help to increase production per capita.

Heavy rains are expected in Islamabad, Upper and Central Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan as well as some parts of Baluchistan. In this situation, the concerned agencies have been directed to make all possible arrangements to keep the highways and link roads open for traffic, deal with emergencies and ensure timely provision of information.

It was further stated that a series of rains have started in the areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Heavy rains lashed Swat for several hours on Saturday night, flooding homes. There were reports of falling roofs in several areas due to torrential rains. It should be noted that due to unpredictable rains in the month of April in the country, the intensity of heat has not increased much so far. However, with the onset of unpredictable rains in May, the weather is likely to improve.

Precautionary measures are needed in view of heavy rains, snowfall and hailstorms.
