The drama by Steven Spielberg tells the story of an American lawyer played by Tom Hanks, who is recruited by the CIA during the Cold War to help rescue a pilot held in the Soviet Union.

4 position in the box office was director Guillermo del Toro s R-rated horror-fantasy “Crimson Peak,” also making its weekend debut at cinemas, making $12.8 million.

Rounding out the top five was “Hotel Transylvania 2” ($12.3 million), a sequel starring animated ghouls voiced by an all-star cast.
